Conference Spotlight: NASCIO 2017 Annual Conference

by Bob Tisone, VP of Sales, State and Local Solutions, Conduent

Government agencies continue to seek strategies for cost savings and research options for sourcing more cost effective delivery of services. Today, more than ever before, states are outsourcing services that can be more efficiently handled by private-sector partners. These partnerships allow states to be more effective and efficient, and to deliver services needed and demanded by their citizens. As we learned from the NASCIO 2017 Annual Conference recently held in Austin, Texas – government agencies continue to embrace and are aggressively seeking new ideas and best practices to improve their operations; both internally and externally.

Conduent continues to support NASCIO and its mission and is proud to be a Gold Sponsor. Our team enjoyed connecting with colleagues, clients and information technology experts from across the United States, discussing how we can work together to meet the needs of the citizens we all serve.

Some highlights:

  • From exploring the implications of Agile to Data Management to addressing Workforce challenges and much more in State government – the NASCIO 2017 Annual Conference provided State CIOs and members with products and services designed to support the challenging role of the state CIO while stimulating the exchange of information and promotion of IT best practices and innovations.

  • This year NASCIO had over 700 attendees – a new attendance record.
  • Mark Raymond, Connecticut Chief Information Officer handed over the gavel to Bo Reese, Oklahoma Chief Information Officer who will serve as the new President of NASCIO. Congratulations to all the other New Executive Committee Leadership.
  • Cybersecurity was again a major topic at NASCIO. Given past and current events, NASCIO championed National Cyber Security Awareness Month (October) by being an official cybersecurity champion.

We would like to again congratulate all the states nominated and selected for the NASCIO State IT Recognition Awards, which honor innovation and excellence in the use of information technology in state government.

We look forward to our continued involvement with and support of NASCIO, state partners and public sector partners.
